About Us

Our story, our team, and our commitment to the children in our care.

Who We Are

The Pediatric Intensive Care Foundation (Polish: Fundacja Intensywnej Terapii Dziecięcej) is a non-profit organisation based in Poznan, Poland. We were established to support one of the region's most vital medical facilities — the 9-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit within the Clinic of Anaesthesiology and Pediatric Intensive Therapy at the Medical University of Karol Marcinkowski in Poznan.

Our foundation acts as a bridge between the medical community, donors, and the public — channelling resources directly to the unit so that its medical staff can save lives with the best available tools, knowledge, and infrastructure.

We are registered in Poland under the following details:

Our History

1972

The Beginning

The Institute of Paediatrics officially opened in 1972. Even before the formal opening, efforts were underway to secure the right equipment and prepare a unit capable of treating critically ill children. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit was established as an integral part of this broader clinic.

2000s

Growing the Mission

Over the following decades, the unit expanded its reach to cover children from the Wielkopolska, Lubuskie, and Zachodniopomorskie regions of Poland. The Foundation was formally registered to support the unit's development, equipment, and staffing needs.

2018

Major Equipment Drive

Thanks to the Foundation's fundraising efforts, specialist equipment worth over 850,000 PLN was purchased. This included regional anaesthesia kits, echocardiographic probes, and critical monitoring systems — all directly funding better outcomes for our patients.

2019

Expansion Begins

January 2019 marked the beginning of a major expansion of the Pediatric ICU. The Foundation played a central role in supporting this construction phase, which aims to create a modern, 21st-century facility capable of treating even more critically ill children.

Today

Continuing the Fight

The Foundation continues its work every day — funding equipment, supporting research, raising awareness, and advocating for the children and families who need us most. We believe every child deserves the very best chance at life.
